WHEN EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE GOING WRONG….

We’ve all had those days when we wake up feeling great.  We just KNOW it’s going to be a productive day and we’re in the right mindset for it.  And then … WHAM!  Everything goes wrong and it happens right out of the gate.  Spoiler!!!!

Bad Day(2)That’s how my day started today.  I had a nice plan in place and the day all mapped out.  I was practically skipping to my office just knowing I had this day locked in!  The first task was to log into my bank account to pay the mortgage and a few other bills that are due tomorrow.  Simple, right?  NOT!  My bank revamped their WHOLE system and all of the glitches wouldn’t let me in. The second task was to tackle an on-going, four-month billing issue with my health insurance carrier.

I’ll spare you all of the gory details, but four hours later, I finally hung up the phone with at least the banking issue squared away.  I’m hopeful that the insurance issue is as well and pray that it doesn’t raise its ugly head again next month.  All in all, half of the business day is SHOT!

Bad Day(3b)
So, what do we do to keep the lid from blowing off when confronted with unexpected challenges?  I thought I’d turn a lemon of a morning into lemonade for you by looking at ways to rise above and conquer, and get your day back on track.  After all, happiness is not the absence of problems, but the ability to deal with them.

One short article I read had 10 things to apply to these situations to help keep the blood pressure under control.  The first thing to do is BREATHE!!!!  Then, think along these lines….

1)  This too shall pass
2)  Some things ARE going right
3)  I have SOME control
4)  I can ask for help
5)  Much of this won’t matter in a few years
6)  I CAN handle this
7)  Something good will come of this
8)  I can ACCEPT what’s out of my control
9)  I have OVERCOME past difficulties
10) I need to take care of myself

Bad Day(4)

I am now free to get on with my day, although it will be four hours longer than I originally thought.  But, by finishing my day as planned, I don’t carry today’s troubles into tomorrow!
